The kids stayed up with us and I think this is their second time making it past midnight! We said goodbye to 2022 with our usual Spezi “Prost” bringing all the wonderful memories forward with us and then watched the annual fireworks show, courtesy of our lovely neighbours.
Looking back, the most liberating feeling for me in 2022 is getting the work-in to internalise that HOME is where I AM, where the heart is… within. Something I have been striving to embrace for a while now. “Home” is not defined by the place or the people, rather, it is where the heart is most full – and who else is responsible for making this a reality but ourselves, right? All praise be to the Almighty for shining His light on me to be able to work on this. So it’s 2023 now and I thought I’d start my first post with a dua’a to strengthen my intention of experiencing the year ahead with an open heart.
O’ Allah Ya Quddus, cleanse my heart and the hearts of my loved ones from all sins and let there be a far away distance between us and our sins. O’ Allah Al Haadi, guide and turn our hearts to your obedience, correct our tongues and remove the spite of our hearts. O’ Allah Ya An Nur, Ya Wadood, fill our hearts with your light and love towards You and each other.
Ameen.
My 2022 intentions LESS IS BEST that was written a year ago, still echoes within me and it will without a doubt continue to aid my year ahead. Whatever your intentions or goals are, remember that the journey makes the destination. And as for every journey we take, be sure to nurture ourselves with compassion when detours or repeated lessons appear. The most important is that we give it our best each time and know that we’d always be doing a little better than before simply because we now know a little better too.
It’s time to lift off with what I know and keep going, keep refining the version of me, solely from a place of love… and again in any journey, it’s good to remember that not everyone we know will understand our WHYs or be willing to go the distance we want to go and that is OKAY. May He continue to ease the journey and always fill our hearts with gratitude, wherever we are! That is my 2023 prayer for me… and for YOU. 5….4…3..2.1 Let go and let’s go!
“Home is not defined by the place or the people, rather, it is where the heart is most full…”
