“Our life is made up of time; our days are measured in hours, our pay measured by those hours, our knowledge is measured by years. We grab a few quick minutes in our busy day to have a coffee break. We rush back to our desks, we watch the clock, we live by appointments. And yet your time eventually runs out and you wonder in your heart of hearts if those seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years and decades were being spent the best way they possibly could. In other words, if you could change anything, would you?”
Cecelia Ahern – Love, Rosie
… would you?
I love collecting quotes. This was (and still is) one of my favourites! Going back almost a decade ago, this quote from Cecelia Ahern‘s book – Love, Rosie was what I wrote on the draft homepage of my “new” Website in 2014 to accompany a photo of the sun shining bright on an Autobahn stretch heading towards the Alps – a photo I took on one of my earlier excursions when I first moved to Germany, permanently. Ahern used to be one of my favourite authors besides Paulo Coelho.
At the time, the intention of starting a new blog or Website sprung from a few big life transitions that happened throughout the years 2012-2014. With social media platforms (mainly Instagram) being “a thing” though, my time was mostly spent there and the intention to maintain this blog slowly weakened… but never forgotten. Who knew that it would take a decade later for this to finally happen!
Creating this Website is part of the choice I have made to cater for my changing needs. The title “Where the Sun Shines” had been long decided (back in 2014!) without realising the deeper meaning it would have for me now, at this present time. The “Master Painter” though… He knew it all the way!
