PRINTMAKING & MIXED MEDIA @ NGRAPHIE BY naz khalid
Printmaking is the process of creating by printing, normally on paper, but also on other surfaces. Linocut Printing is a technique I mostly use for my artworks. I ink the linoleum blocks which I have carved out and then I print them individually by hand or by a manual relief printing press.
Exploring new colour mixes is a part of my printmaking process that I particularly love besides the therapeutic time I have while carving the patterns / images – aaaah, put on a favourite playlist and just go with the flow. The carving, inking and printing processes that are all done by hand produce variations from print to print, making each print unique. I combine hand-lettering art and also explore many different themes in my artworks.
Mixed media simply means more than one medium being used in a piece of artwork, so it can be painting and magazine images, assembled junk, ink and watercolor or more. Collage is a specific art term, meaning a piece formed primarily by images that adhered down to a substrate to form a new image.
I started off with acrylic painting and I am slowly venturing out into collage art. Exploring and experimenting with this medium is the most fun part of the process for me. I look forward to experience more and see where my creativity will bring me, as well as the expressions I can put out there for others to enjoy and be inspired.
