As a stationery enthusiast and lover, creating my own books or journals has always been something I wanted to try and… I finally did, in 2021! I made my first mini journal with the help of Nik the Booksmith “Beginner Bookbinding Project” Tutorial on YouTube. We went through the whole bookbinding process from A- folding and cutting the papers, sewing and putting them together to Z- making the cover… and boy, was I happy about that!
How lucky are we these days that with a bit of resourcefulness, we can find almost any kind of tutorials online. A huge shout-out to the following YouTube channels where I’ve picked up most of my bookbinding skills from: NiktheBooksmith , SeaLemonDIY and bittermelonbindery .
As my go-to-at-home-guide, I have the “Making Handmade Books, 100+ Bindings – Structures & Forms” from Alisa Golden with me to flip through at any time.
I have also started experimenting with paper making. Not yet enough for the pages of my own handmade books / journals but I will get there. Stay tuned as I will be sharing some highlights of my bookbinding and paper making adventures here.
