The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.
Rumi
On September 4th, I wrote in my journal – “Today I am extra grateful for being able to witness the sunrise by the beach of The Adriatic Sea. To hear the waves calmly hit the shore, feel the chilled morning breeze on my skin, see the colours of the sky slowly changing, smell and taste that first morning coffee”. I’ve forgotten how special the ocean is to me until I stood in the waters on that first day, right after chucking all our bags in the room! Breathing in my element again… and when we left, I had my energy recharged, my intentions realigned and my heart so full.
I know, I know… the feature photo is not a photo of a beach! LOL. It is still a photo from the holidays though. I chose it so I could also include a little photography talk with you. I’ve read somewhere that in photography, an element of mystery creates the strongest sense of story… So how can you make your photos appear mysterious? There are so many ways!
My personal favourites are by taking shots of reflections. A simple example from the feature photo above. Can you tell who is that on the photo? No. Can you guess where it was taken? Maybe… You get the point. I also love taking shots of only my two feet and of course, by taking cropped compositions. The key is not to reveal too much, leaving space for your viewers to be curios and to imagine. Try it some time and let me know how it goes for you!
Ps: Interested to receive a handmade postcard from Ngraphie? Leave a comment HERE with the title “Reflections” and the name of the city you think this photo was taken at… We’ll connect further if you guess it correctly. Good luck!
