MA – when absence is as important as presence… a Japanese concept of “negative space” that brings a deliberate pause and gives new meaning towards something.
I made a linocut print the other day inspired from one of our quiet weekends repotting our green babies – the Orchids in particular. It’s the first time for me and I was in total awe… with nature! The roots were all curled up around one another, squeezing for space in that tiny pot. I cannot imagine how but the beautiful plant was nonetheless thriving all the while. It was about time though to make some space. My other half is the expert when it comes to plants. He did all the work with choosing and trimming those roots. Gut gemacht, Sayang!
This reminded me on how important it is for us to take the time to pause and reflect. Sometimes for a short period of time, sometimes for longer. Like the beautiful orchids, we may have grown many rooted beliefs in the span of our lives. Are these beliefs causing limitations for us… perhaps difficulties and even sufferings? Are they still aligned with the present version of ourselves? We would only know if we take the time to be curious and ask these questions. At most times, there would already be signs showing us that it is time for a “repotting” activity… but a deliberate pause definitely helps with the process of making conscious space for more growth, peace, freedom and alignment. Let’s make this a practice “ma” friends!
